The main therapies I offer are:
- EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a specific
type of therapy that involves specific side to side eye movements combined with
talking to help process overwhelming memories or situations from the past. It is a
structured therapy and follows a specific protocol.
- Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). ACT is a talking therapy that uses
concepts of acceptance and mindfulness to help bring actionable behaviour change
with the aim of improving wellbeing and psychological flexibility.
- Compassion focused therapy (CFT). CFT is a talking therapy which incorporates
compassion training techniques to promote kindness. This therapy works
particularly well for people who struggling with low self esteem, harsh inner critics
and the struggle with perfectionism.
- Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT is a talking therapy based on theoretical
underpinnings of behaviourism. It posits that thoughts, feelings, actions are all
interconnected and uses this framework to promote wellbeing change.
In our assessment session, we can think through together which therapy may suit you best
and I can integrate different techniques/practises to tailor therapy for you.
My overall aim for the therapy sessions is to promote wellbeing and improve your quality of
life. This is done through collaborating on therapy goals together and helping identify
barriers which may be getting in the way for you. We will regularly review the therapy so
you are clear on the direction forward and we can discuss how many sessions you would
like/need to have.
